Sophie had just returned from a solo trip to Barbados. Maya teased, “You should’ve taken someone with you. That’s what boyfriends are for!” Sophie rolled her eyes. “I don’t have time for a boyfriend. Same as two years ago.” Maya shook her head. “You’re a realist pretending to be a cynic, but deep down you’re an optimist.” Before Sophie could respond, Maya showed her photos. “Look, Sebby got caught with another girl. I told you!” Sophie sighed. “I hate being right about these things.” Maya frowned. “You work too hard, Soph. Even on vacation you never really leave the office.” “Let me worry about that,” Sophie said. “Just have those pictures ready. I need my column done by lunch.” Maya smirked. “You’d probably find dirt in a snowstorm.” “Comes with the job,” Sophie replied with a grin.
