Leo Marquez was a Mexican-American writer, poet, and traveler. His books were not widely recognized during his lifetime, but now he is celebrated as an influential voice of post-war American literature. He spent much of his adult life traveling across North America and experimenting with new lifestyles. His famous works include Across the Highways and The Mountain Seekers. Leo studied at Columbia University and later moved to New York, where he met other artists called the 'Drift Generation'. He developed an interest in Buddhism and wrote books on Eastern philosophy. Leo died in 1970 at age 48.
